If you decide you want to try your own window washing, you’ll need a few supplies:
- Small bucket (2-5 gallon)
- Sponge
- Squeegee
- Window scraper
- Window washing solution
- Rags/towels
- Step ladder
- Extension ladder
If you don’t have these supplies at home, you can find most of them at your local home improvement or hardware store.
Before you start the window cleaning process, you’ll want to consider what day and time will be best to complete the task. Check out your local weather forecast and keep in mind that it is best to clean windows when it is not too hot and sunny, as this can cause the windows to dry too quickly, leaving streaks and smears. If you do choose a day that is going to be on the warmer side, consider doing the outside surfaces or those in direct sunlight first, before the sun gets too intense, etc.
Once you have the window cleaning supplies listed above and chosen an appropriate day and time with adequate weather conditions, you are ready to clean the windows. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time and keep in mind if it is your first time attempting to clean your windows, it will likely take longer than anticipated and you may need to plan on multiple days depending on the size of your home and how much time you can dedicate to cleaning windows per day.
With a little practice, you’ll soon get the hang of window cleaning and will be on your way to a brighter, more beautiful home! Be sure to clean your windows at least two to four times per year for best results. Don’t forget to do a thorough screen cleaning
while you’re cleaning the windows. And if you need to use a ladder to reach any of the windows, then while you have the ladder out, you might as well do a good gutter cleaning
too.
If all this sounds like more than you’re willing to do, or if you begin washing your house windows then realize it’s a bigger task than you thought, just give us a call and we’ll get it done quickly, professionally, and at an affordable price!
